More about Hybrid Perpetual Roses
Hybrid Perpetual Roses are crosses between Portlands, Chinas and Bourbons, that saw the proliferation of this group in Victorian times. They are a very mixed bunch but most have quite large blooms. The taller varieties make fine pillar roses, or can be pegged down to encourage flowering along the entire length of the shoots. The colour range is white, pink, red, purple and crimson and includes some good striped varieties.
Pruning Guide
Hybrid Perpetuals are best pruned in February by removing any old or twiggy wood and shortening canes by one third. We recommend spur pruning side shoots to maintain quality blooms and recurrent flowering.
