More about Modern Shrub roses:
Modern Shrubs are a large assortment of mostly more modern hybrids of very mixed ancestry. All highly useful in their own individual ways. For the most part they were developed in the 20th century and do not fall into other groupings.
Scharlachglut, a.k.a. Scarlet Fire, is a vigorous shrub, displaying single brilliant scarlet blooms with prominent golden stamens. Summer flowering, but with large orange urn-shaped hips in Autumn, it does well in most situations.
Pruning guide: Requires little pruning except for the removal of very old wood once established (after flowering) and perhaps the shortening of any growths by one third in February to enhance shape.
