Summer-flowering Old Roses are historic beauties, full of intensely fragrant blooms that will have a single flush around mid-summer (generally during June/July in the UK). The sheer mass of blooms is often unsurpassed by repeat-flowering varieties.
Many of these roses have been with us from ancient times, but they reached their peak around 1840. The colour palette ranges from white, through shades of pink, to lilac, purple and maroon. With their subtle hues and matt foliage, the overall effect is one of tranquil calm and beauty.
